A large peacock with a spread, fan-shaped tail anchors this green Pen Kalamkari Bangalore silk dupatta. Curling floral vines cover the surrounding lime-green field, bringing pink, blue, yellow and cream accents into the composition.
A peacock within a flowering garden
Fine dark outlines define the bird's curved neck and layered tail feathers, whose rounded tips radiate around the body. The smaller flowers and pointed leaves follow branching stems across the fabric, creating a flowing pattern around the larger bird. This contrast between the detailed peacock and the closely spaced floral work gives the end its focus.
The artwork is hand-drawn and hand-painted on Bangalore silk. Cream edging leads into an end panel of multicoloured flowers and painted hanging ornaments. Drape the peacock panel forward with a plain cream kurta to keep its full shape visible.
